At booth SU13712 in the South Hall’s upper level, Socionext will display its robust media server solution combined with edge computing capability with built-in AV codec enabling intelligent AV content processing and delivery. The company will also highlight its new ultra-compact, low power 4K all-in-one HEVC codec enabling end-to-end video content delivery and transmission.

At NAB, Socionext will demonstrate an integrated solution along with a server box, module on board and reference designs with hardware accelerator and edge computing capability to selectively capture and transmit AV meta-data to the cloud for AI deep learning.

The Socionext media edge server “M820” features the company’s low-power, scalable SC2A11A ARM core-based processor with MB86M30 for HEVC/AVC/MPEG-2 low latency encoding for optimized high volume data processing with minimal delay. The solution combines the company's highly-efficiency, multi-core processing power and industry-leading codec as a foundation for a collaborative solution ideal for the video broadcasting and services industries.

Single-chip HEVC Video Encoder-Decoder Features Versatility, Low Power

Socionext will demonstrate the new SC2M50, designed for video transmitting applications that require encoding and decoding 4K 60P HEVC video in real time with minimal power. Chipset power requirements are only 3.5W, providing a 97 percent power saving compared with other solutions, many of which require up to 150W. The reduced power and size are vital for next-generation video equipment and portable devices like video transmitters for professional applications.

The SC2M50 enables the transmission of 4K high quality, high definition video through wireless or network distribution, while using about half the bandwidth required compared to the conventional H.264. It is also compatible with YUV 4:2:2 10bit encoding, which is essential for professional use.
